A. Background of the Study
Language is a great part in our life. Language and human beings are two unseparated components. Whenever, wherever and whoever can express feeling and thoughts with language. It is a way, perhaps the most important of language in which human beings interact in social situations. Each language has its own norms, including grammar and structure. Accordingly when message which is transferred from a certain language into others.
“…Language is an arbitrary system of speech sound or a sequence of speech sounds which is used or can be used in interpersonal communication by an aggression of human beings and which rather exhaustively catalogs things, processes and events in the human environment…” (Ramelan, 1984: 45)
English is an important language and used as an international language. Every people all around in the world use English to communication. There are four parts in English ability; Reading, Speaking, Listening and writing skills.
Unfortunately, not all people have the same opportunity to learn it. That is why writing is needed to make those people who are lack of opportunity to learn a foreign language in order to understand the real message. Nowadays, writing has become a very important means of communication. For instance, it is capable of mediating the relationship between individuals, groups, and nations to make the world more peaceful in one understanding of message in written form.
In University student have opportunity to mastery all that parts. As a Academic human student demanded to mastery in writing skills, especially for passing their grade. They must to write down Final Thesis as one of passing grade requirement. But, in every learning process there are many problems. Problem here are that students difficult to express their knowledge and their idea in to written form or paragraph. It cause the paragraph is not maximum.
From the discussion above, the writer is interested in carrying out a research dealing the improving the knowledge to support writing skill. Because of that, the writer takes courage to write a thesis with the title ” Improving Student’s Knowledge Trough Grouping Strategy In Writing Class” (A Classroom Action Research in the Fourth Semester of B Class of English Department of Education Faculty Academic Year 2006/ 2007)
