Music and Lyrics mengisahkan tentang Sophie Fisher, seorang perempuan yang
suka menulis dan mengarang. Dia lulusan sastra Inggris dan mempunyai bakat yang luar biasa dalam mengarang syair lagu, yang sayangnya tak diketahuinya. Pertemuannya yang tidak sengaja dengan Alex Fletcher, mantan personil Pop! yang terkenal di tahun 1980-an, kemudian mengubah hidupnya. Berdua mereka menciptakan dan menggubah lagu untuk penyanyi terkenal Cora Corman yang akrab dipanggil C. Kerja keras dan pengertian mendekatkan hubungan mereka, baik dari sisi profesional maupun pribadi. Akhirnya, setelah melalui berbagai masalah, baik antara mereka berdua maupun pihak lainnya, terciptalah lagu Way Back Into Love yang sangat indah. Cora yang awalnya ingin mengubah aransemen lagu tersebut sesuai stylenya yang penganut Buddhisme, akhirnya tampil dengan membawakan lagu tersebut sesuai format aslinya. Sophie dan Alex pun menjalin hubungan yang mesra dan semuanya berakhir bahagia.
