Having the majority stock share of User Interface Quartz (UIQ), basic platform of symbian-based cell-phone's software, Motorola and Sony Ericsson have emerged to become the dominant player against Nokia and Apple. This duo-major-company work together fusion their power to get UIQ because UIQ offer an user-interface that so user-friendly and undeniable, it uses touch-screen-based interface. As we know, so many Nokia's cell-phone application that use this kind of technology. The battle continue as Apple develop the iPhone, another phone that use similar concept. This motorola's UIQ investment shows that motorola give a lot of interest to symbian-based cell-phone application. Another possibility is that motorola want to 'drive' UIQ so it could compatible with Linux operating system, motorola's cell-phone operating system.UIQ were early developed as part of Ericsson research program before it became part of Symbian Ltd.
